Billy Talent’s Aaron Solowoniuk Announces Hiatus: “I Just Need To Focus On My Health”

Billy Talent drummer Aaron Solowoniuk took to Youtube on Friday to announce his hiatus from the band following a Multiple Sclerosis relapse.

“As you know I’ve had MS for over 15 years now and it hasn’t stopped me from recording music and touring music ever. Over the past six or seven months I’ve been dealing with a relapse,” he began the video. “Anyone with MS can tell you a set of stairs can be daunting at times, and imagine having to sit down and play drums. It can get very tiring.”

Drums on the band’s latest record will instead be performed by Alexisonfire’s Jordan Hastings, Solowoniuk told fans. “We have reached out to Jordan Hastings from Alexisonfire…Right now he’s in there recording the drums.”

Despite his recent health problems, Solowoniuk will still take part in the making of the band’s latest album, telling fans that he’s “going to be taking a lot of pictures and filming and documenting everything that’s going on.”
