Kristen’s bell was verbally rung when it was discovered she occasionally smokes weed in front of her sober husband Dax Shepard but she is not apologizing.
Reacting to negative feedback on social media, Bell defended her use of marijuana around Shepard when visiting “The View” on Wednesday.
“I just found out about this, by the way,” she said. “If you’re not using your critical thinking skills and you can’t give me the benefit of the doubt in a situation and you just come at me, I don’t have time for that, I just don’t. I respond to positive things.”
“He [Shepard] said he lost his privilege to drink, I didn’t,” Bell continued. “He’s like, ‘That would be like asking a diabetic spouse, “Don’t ever eat sugar in front of me.”‘”
Bell, 38, said she would likely have behaved differently during the early years of Shepard’s sobriety “but if he sees me smoke a vape once a month, he’s not giving me signals that he’s going out on a three-day bender.”
The actress uses CBD every day for anxiety and vouches for its “healing properties.”
“It scares people and it’s okay that it scares people, but again, come into the conversation with critical thinking and ready to analyze it,” she said. “Don’t come in with like, ‘That’s bad,’ no one’s going to have a conversation with you if that’s your point of view.
“I’m not a scary person. Sorry guys, I smoke weed. I like it, it’s nice,” added Bell. “I don’t do it around my kids but I also don’t think it’s a very dangerous thing.”
Shepard celebrated his 14th year of sobriety several weeks ago.

To the man mocked me in our wedding photos because I cried too many tears of joy, Who wore a baby Bjorn for 2 straight years to show his girls how to be as adventurous as possible, Who held our dear little shakey mann pup for 8 hrs straight on the day we had to put him down, I know how much you loved using. I know how much it got in your way. And I know, because I saw, how hard you worked to live without it. I will forever be in awe of your dedication, and the level of fierce moral inventory you perform on yourself, like an emotional surgery, every single night. You never fail to make amends, or say sorry when its needed. You are always available to guide me, and all of our friends, with open ears and tough love when its needed most. You have become the fertilizer in the garden of our life, encouraging everyone to grow. I'm so proud that you have never been ashamed of your story, but instead shared it widely, with the hope it might inspire someone else to become the best version of themselves. You have certainly inspired me to do so. I love you more than I ever thought I could love anyone, and I want you to know, I see you. I see how hard you work. You set an excellent example of being human. Happy 14th year sobriety birthday, @daxshepard. Xoxo
