Candice Bergen says she “owes” her “Murphy Brown” reboot to Donald Trump’s election, but that’s not the only history she has with the U.S. President.

The 72-year-old actress went on Global’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to talk about her series revival.

In “Murphy Brown”, Bergen’s character once went on a date with Trump, but it turns out that story was based on a true story.

“I was very young,” Bergen admits about her own date with the President. “I was about 18. Trump and I are about the same age, or as he would point out, I’m about six months older.”

She continued, “I remember that… he was wearing a burgundy suit, with a burgundy vest, and burgundy leather boots and was in a burgundy limousine. So it was kind of a symphony in burgundy.”

But it sounds like the date didn’t go too well.

“I was home very early,” Bergen said.
