Kanye West has been releasing a lot of music lately, but his latest album will be arriving later than originally anticipated.
Last week, the “I Love It” collaborator announced plans to drop his third full-length album of the year, Yandhi, on Saturday, Sept. 29, following the releases of Kids See Ghosts with Kid Cudi and ye earlier this year.
Much like Yeezus is a play on “Ye” and “Jesus”, Yandhi is a portmanteau of “Ye” and “Gandhi”. The day prior, West showed off a wild holographic version of the album’s cover art.
“We’re releasing Yandhi Saturday night. We know it will come in number 2 to my brother Lil Wayne and that’s lovely,” West tweeted Thursday. “The universe needs Ye and Wayne music at the same time.”
West was musical guest on Global’s “Saturday Night Live” premiere this weekend, and performed tracks from the new album — including a bizarre performance of “I Love It” in which he and Lil Pump were costumed as water bottles.
However, when the Saturday-at-midnight deadline came and went without Yandhi being released, fans were not having it. Check out this sampling of reaction on Twitter:
West’s wife cleared things up on Monday when she took to Twitter to reveal that Yandhi‘s release date has now been pushed back to Nov. 23 (a.k.a. Black Friday, the day after U.S. Thanksgiving) — but assures fans it will be “worth the wait.”
