Jack Black Says ‘School Of Rock’ Is ‘The Best Film Of My Career’

Jack Black is in agreement with many of his fans, “School of Rock” was awesome.

“The House with a Clock in its Walls” star reflected on memorable moments of his career in an epic episode of “IMDb Me” with IMDb and Funny or Die. “This is the best film of my career,” Black said of “School of Rock”.

“This is where all the planets aligned,” he continued. “We had the first reading of it before we even started shooting where all the kids were cast and we were in New York and we sat down at the table read and we read it out loud and I was like, ‘This f**king rules!’”

Black, 49, also opened up about the moment he realized his career would skyrocket after working on “The Player”.

“So that movie gets accepted at the Cannes Film Festival. I have such a small role, I’m not invited to go to the premiere at Cannes,” Black remembered. “But, my father weirdly, lives in Cannes at that time, so I fly over to visit my dad and I sneak in, weasel my way into the premiere.”

“We end up all going to this party on to of a mountaintop — Tim Robbins, Giancarlo Esposito, Robert Altman and the four of us are smoking a jay up on top of a mountain overlooking the gorgeous lights, the twinkling lights of Cannes,” he continued. “And I thought, ‘This is it. I kicked a** in a big major motion picture, now the career is going to take off.’’

Not so much, “But then nothing happened and I couldn’t get any [major] work for like 10 years.”

And what about that time Bruce Willis took a three-hour break during the production of “The Jackal” to grab a bite in Paris? “One day we went to lunch, we had a lunch break. And I was like, ‘What’s going on? This lunch break is taking a long time,’” Black said. “It’s a 3-hour lunch break, are we going to shoot more of the scene?’”

“And they’re like, ‘Bruce went to lunch in Paris, he’s going to be back soon.’ Apparently, he jumped on a plane, he weirdly had a taste for something,” he laughed. “Then he came back and murdered me.”

Black recently starred in “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”. Many fans were excited but worried if the 2017 movie could live up to the cult classic. Black was not concerned: “I knew it was going to be good because I read the script and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart were already attached and I was like ‘these characters are jumping off the page.’”

“And my role, I know what I’m going to do, I’m going to play the most popular girl in high school, for some reason I know how to play that,” he explained. “And then it [was] such a hit, it was way bigger than I ever anticipated. And now, I think we’re going to make part two, I think you have to.”

“The House with a Clock in its Walls” is out in theatres now.
