Alessia Cara is about to blitz the Grey Cup Freedom Mobile Halftime Show.
The “How Far I’ll Go” singer’s stock continues to rise. Cara will join a list of Canadian greats – such as Justin Bieber, Shania Twain, The Tragically Hip, Celine Dion, Bryan Adams and Carly Rae Jepsen – when she performs live on Sunday, Nov. 25.
The 22-year-old singer sat down with ET Canada’s Carlos Bustamante and admitted she was a little nervous going into the country-wide event.
“It’s so cool. It’s very intimidating to know that like millions of people are going to be watching you live,” she told Bustamante in New York. “Hopefully everything will go well.”
Sports is a passion that runs in her family, but it didn’t rub off on Cara. “I like the idea of sports. I like the spirit of sports. And it’s always been huge in my family. I just don’t know a lot about it,” she admitted.
In fact, the person most excited about her halftime show gig is Cara’s dad: “I think my dad was more excited than me even because obviously, he’s a huge sports fan.”
The 2018 Grey Cup takes place in Edmonton on Nov. 25. Cara has big shoes to fill after Twain’s incredible dog sled entrance at last year’s show. She will undoubtedly bring her game face.
