Global’s new “Supergirl”; series gives a lot of nods to the iconic Superman legacy, including a twist on the character of Jimmy Olsen played by actor Mehcad Brooks.
It’s the role of The Man Of Steel’s best friend, donning the more sophisticated name, James Olsen, taking a job at the same newspaper where his cousin, Supergirl works.
When asked if Brooks had any pressure stepping into the role of Olsen, Brooks laughs: “Yeah I didn’t sleep for the first three months, it was crazy!”; The character has been a part of the Superman mythology since the 1940s and is traditionally portrayed as a white male. “I try to bring a little more swag than going “hey gee wilikers!!!’ Nah I can’t do that ha ha ha.”;
The former Calvin Klein model looks back at his early modelling career when he was featured in a CK underwear campaign and why he believes in the power of manifestation.
“I really do believe a lot in manifestation and I told my manager I said “listen, I don’t think there’s any reason I can’t do the Calvin Klein campaign’ and he’s like “okay’ and literally nine months later, he calls me and goes “hey you got it,”; he tells ET Canada. “So if you believe in something in life, then you can just sort of state that you want it and tell the people that can make that happen and work hard and get it. Honestly, it sounds really weird and corny, but it’s true.”;
Watch “Supergirl“; Monday nights on Global at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
