Samantha Markle is currently in London and she is bringing a message of reconciliation.
The 53-year-old half-sister of Meghan Markle arrived in the UK last week and has made an appearance on Jeremy Vine’s chat show.
Markle started off the wide-ranging interview by saying she and the royal family could “hopefully move forward with peaceful resolve.”
Asked about her rude tweets and insults directed at Meghan and Prince Harry, Markle explained, “[My father] was being purposely ignored. We were hoping that private channels would be used. When they failed we went public.”
She added, “The goal at that point wasn’t just getting closer. It was also about bringing out a very important point that you don’t isolate family, you are a humanitarian.”
When Vine suggested that Markle had wanted to shame her half-sister, she responded, “The public were making a mockery of the family and it had to stop. Perhaps I was frustrated. I was lashing out more at the media.”
Asked if she wanted to apologize for her conduct, Markle said, “To my sister, absolutely, and to Harry as well and the royal family.”
It looks like that apology to Meghan won’t get to happen in person, though. “I was hoping that maybe we would have the chance to speak, that she would know I was here,” Markle said. “But I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
