‘A Star Is Born’ Vs. ‘Venom’: October’s Box Office Battle Against Review Bots

It’s the battle of the bots with two soon-to-be blockbusters heading into theatres this weekend.

With both the Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga musical “A Star Is Born” and the superhero flick “Venom” starring Tom Hardy hitting the box office on the same night, the two films are instantly pitted against each other for October’s top-movie spot.

Both flicks have hopes of taking the record from 2013’s “Gravity”, which had biggest box office October opening in history (making $55.7 million), but Twitter bots are trying to sabotage each flick.

“Just got back from seeing #Venom in theatres… So disappointed. Lots of democrat nonsense, pushing LGBT agenda down throat too. Disgusted. I can’t believe I am saying this but I might have to take the kids to see #AStarIsBorn tomorrow to make up for the terrible night. Very sad,” reads one fake tweet, while another similarly reads, “Just got back from seeing #Venom in theatres… So disappointed. Lots of democrat nonsense, pushing LGBT agenda down throat too. Disgusted. I can’t believe I am saying this but I might have to take the kids to see #AStarIsBorn tomorrow to make up for the terrible night. Very sad.”

But it wasn’t just the Gaga/Cooper fans against the rival film, Marvel “Venom” fans also released staged tweets.

“I am the biggest Marvel fan but I just watched #Venom and I don’t know what to say. Easily the worst movie this year. I expected so much better and now I’m just disappointed,” read one post while others followed the trend, “I am the biggest Marvel fan but I’m very disappointed with the way the new #Venom movie turned out! Probably the worst Marvel movie ever!”

According to Deadline, “Venom” is expected to make $60 to $70 million, while “A Star Is Born” is set to hit approximately $20 million.
