“Flipping Out” stars Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward are involved in an ugly legal battle.
The celebrity couple is being sued by their daughter’s surrogate mother. “It seems like a little bit of a money grab to me,” Lewis told “The Wendy Williams Show” on Tuesday.
The birth of Lewis and Edward’s first child was a celebrated televised moment on their Bravo show. Celebrated by all except for surrogate Alexandra Trent, that is.
Trent filed a lawsuit against Lewis, Edward, Bravo and Authentic Entertainment in June, per People.
“Flipping Out” producers filmed the surrogate’s vagina without permission, according to the lawsuit, and Lewis and Edward allegedly made “disgusting” remarks at her expense.
“If I was a surrogate, and I had known there was going to be an audience, I probably would have waxed,” Lewis said during an on-camera interview. “And that was the shocking part for Gage. I don’t think Gage had ever seen a vagina, let alone one that big.”
The situation “deeply damaged Trent” and “caused incredible anguish, self-loathing, contempt and depression” and she is seeking damages for unlawful recording, invasion of privacy and fraud.
“This is like a blow to the head. We are completely blindsided by this,” Lewis responded back in June. “We are just devastated. I thought we had a nice relationship, a friendship. We treated her like an extended member of the family. So you can imagine this is pretty stunning.”
