A wave of nostalgia is about to hit fans of “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”.
Netflix is celebrating Halloween month appropriately with a brand new trailer for their series “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”.
The upcoming supernatural series is based on the comic book of the same name and serves as a spiritual prequel to “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”.
The new show stars Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman and “imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft,” Netflix says in a press release.
“Tonally in the vein of ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ and ‘The Exorcist’, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit,” the streaming giant explains.
The “Chilling Adventures” script was penned by “Riverdale” showrunner and Archie Comics CCO Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. The CW originally intended to have the series operate as a companion show to “Riverdale”. Ultimately, Netflix ended up with the property and a two-season straight-to-series order shot in Vancouver.
Ten episodes of “Chilling Adventures” premiere Oct. 26 on Netflix.
