The Toronto Maple Leafs pulled off a last-minute win over the Montreal Canadiens in overtime during their season opener Wednesday night, and Shawn Mendes was there to cheer them on.
The 20-year-old singer attended the hometown game at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto where he got a big introduction.
Also in attendance was former Leafs goalie Curtis Joseph, who gifted Mendes a custom jersey on behalf of the team.
Mendes’ fans were excited, with some even managing to get selfies with the singer. A few fans on Twitter from outside of Toronto, however, were not happy he’s a Leafs supporter.
