Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are all about setting trends.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met with supporters in Brighton in the Sussex area on Wednesday. Markle spotted an elderly woman, Lydia, who told the Duchess she looked “so beautiful.”
Breaking royal protocol, Harry kissed the hand of the woman. “Ooh, thank you!” the fan giggled. “Very nice to meet you,” Harry said.
Daily Mail published footage of the innocent smooch and spoke with Francesca Troon, who filmed the encounter. “They were actually on the opposite side [of the street] and heard people shouting their names out on our side,” she said. “Meghan made a beeline for this lady, she was elderly in her eighties.”
“Meghan asked her for her name and where she came from. Then Harry came over and Meghan introduced the lady to Harry,” Troon explained. “The lady was so excited and she said she felt so lucky that Harry had kissed her hand.”
The Royals typically refrain from such physical interaction with supporters, but Harry and Markle are quickly becoming famous for their more lax approach to business. In September, Markle broke royal protocol by closing her own car door.
