Lena Dunham celebrated her mom’s birthday by pranking the woman that gave birth to her on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Ahead of her appearance to discuss her new series, “Camping”, Dunham texted pics of potential TV outfits to her parents. Each dress was more questionable than the last and was thrown together with the help of Kimmel’s crew.
Despite their varied awfulness, Dunham’s dad approved a floral number. “This one broke my heart,” the “Girls” creator and star announces as she reads their texts.
But the final prank was still to come.
Dunham FaceTimed her parents while she was on stage with Kimmel in front of the audience to ask what they thought of her actual outfit. Not knowing she was live on TV, Kimmel surprised Dunham’s mom by popping into the frame to wish her a happy birthday.
“They actually took that better than I thought,” Dunham announces, seeing her mom broadcast live on screen. “I thought I was gonna get cursed at.”
