Leonard Cohen was the “real Kanye West.” At least, that’s what he wrote in a poem.
The posthumously published poem, titled “Kanye West Is Not Picasso”, is included in the poetry collection The Flame by the late Canadian music icon.
In the poem, Cohen muses on a number of figures, including Pablo Picasso, West, Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla and Jay-Z, writing, “I am the real Kanye West” and “I am the Kanye West Kanye West thinks he is.”
On Friday, Macmillan Audio released a clip from their forthcoming audiobook version of The Flame in which “Kanye West is Not Picasso” is read by Michael Shannon.
West hasn’t yet responded to the poem but it got a big reaction from fans of both artists on Twitter.
