Fans have been waiting 18 years for a direct follow-up to M. Night Shyamalan’s 2000 film “Unbreakable”. And now, it seems the wait has been worthwhile.
Coming off of last year’s surprise sorta sequel “Split” which brought back Bruce Willis’ David Dunn for the film’s closing scene, Shyamalan has once again teamed up with Willis, his “Unbreakable” co-star Samuel L. Jackson and “Split” star James McAvoy for “Glass”.
The just-released trailer brings “Unbreakable” and “Split” together as the three main characters – McAvoy’s multiple personalities manifested in The Horde, Willis’ Dunn, and Jackson’s Elijah Price aka Mr. Glass – find themselves in a psychiatric home under the care of Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson). While Dr. Staple may believe The Horde’s physical transformation into the menacing monster The Beast are purely a symptom of his delusion, mastermind Mr. Glass thinks otherwise.
“I need your abilities to get us all out of here and show the world we exist,” Mr. Glass says in the trailer, unleashing The Beast to help the group find others like them. “That sounds like the bad guys teaming up.”
“Glass” will make its way into theatres on January 18.
