UPDATE: Tuesday, Jan. 26 (2:17 p.m. ET) – With his first solo single Pillow Talk set to drop Friday, former One Direction member Zayn Malik speaks with The Sunday Times about the album, and also opens up about his former One Direction band-mates.

Asked whether he’s talked to the guys since leaving the Brit boy band last year, he says only: “I got an email…I don’t even wanna say names. I have no beef.”;

Would he ever considering reuniting with Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall? “Who knows?”; he says. “I don’t know. If the time was right and that was the thing to do, then I would make that decision when it came around.”;

One Direction fans have been waiting to see what musical direction Zayn Malik will be taking ever since he left the Brit boy band earlier this year, and now we know the wait is almost over.

Earlier today, Malik tweeted a photo of the cover up his upcoming single Pillowtalk, emblazoned with the date 29.01.16, sending fans into a frenzy with the news his first solo album will be released this Friday.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, reports Just Jared, Malik is apparently trying to distance himself from his boy band roots by taking a sexier direction, describing “Pillowtalk”; as being about “dirty and raw”; sex.

“Everybody has sex, and it’s something people want hear about,”; said the 23-year-old. “It’s part of everybody’s life, a very BIG part of life! And you don’t want to sweep it under the carpet. It has to be talked about.”

Musically, Pillowtalk is expected to a departure from 1D, with Malik expressing in a November interview with Fader that he’s not actually a fan of One Direction’s music.
