That didn’t take long!
According to BBC News, mere hours after Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank exchanged vows at Windsor Castle, gift bags presented to members of the public were listed for sale on eBay — and they are not going cheap.
The burgundy fabric bags, embossed with the letters E and J in gold, contained an order of service, a Windsor Castle chocolate coin, a commemorative refrigerator magnet, a chocolate chip shortbread cookie, a rain poncho and a can of spring water.
Prices for the bags ranged from £50 to £1,000 (approximately $85 to $1,700 in Canadian dollars).
One listing, noted The Independent, offers buyers the chance “to buy your very own piece of British royal history an memorabilia,” while another declares the bag to be a “very rare collectors item for those who love the British Royal Family and British Royal Weddings.”
BBC News reports that the 1,200 members of the public were selected via ballot to receive an invitation into the grounds of Windsor Castle for the nuptials, and received gift bags; the 850 private guests invited to the ceremony, however, did not.
