Comedian Dave Chappelle has never been one to hide his opinions, and the former “Chappelle’s Show” host had something to say about Kanye West’s bonkers visit to the White House this week.
In a clip from an upcoming appearance with CNN’s Van Jones, Chappelle is quick to praise Yeezy.
“First of all, you know, Kanye’s the artist, man. And he’s a genius,” he said.
“I think the angle he’s seeing things from is about the division that he sees,” he added. “And — and he’s not inconsistent with what he’s saying.”
However, Chappelle explained that just because he admires West’s talent doesn’t mean he’s simpatico with his support of the President Trump.
“I’m not mad at Kanye. That’s my brother — I love him, I support him,” Chappelle added. “But, you know, I don’t have to agree with everything that he says … I just trust him as a person of intent. But yeah, he shouldn’t say all that s**t.”
Chappelle admitted that he’s not afraid to apply the same sentiment to his own words, particularly remarks he made about the newly elected president when he hosted “Saturday Night Live” in November 2016.
“I said we should give Trump a chance because he’s the president of the United States,” he said. “I shouldn’t have said that s**t.”
Chappelle’s entire interview with Jones is scheduled to air on Saturday night.
