Jason Lewis says bring it on.
The “Sex and the City” hunk is now starring in the science fiction television series “Midnight, Texas” as gay fallen angel Joe Strong. In the series, Lewis’ character is married to a male half-demon named Chuy. According to the 47-year-old actor, Christian lobby groups have taken offence to this aspect of the show.
“Joe is a little over the petty sexual concerns of the average human being,” Lewis told The Daily Telegraph. “He’s been around too long (being 1000-years-old) to look at somebody through such narrow values and assess them.”
“I really quite like working on a show like this, especially in the [political] climate of such intolerance because we kind of to get to poke fun at that a little bit,” he continued. “Yeah, cool, be intolerant of us and see how well that goes for you.”
Lewis also shared his thoughts on the #MeToo movement, saying men should be involved too because abuse “doesn’t exist in one sexuality… It exists in people and the pain that they’ve parlayed forward and become a monster so they can answer to some monstrosity done to them.”
“Midnight, Texas” is based on a book series from Charlaine Harris, the author whose content inspired “True Blood”. Season two of “Midnight, Texas” premieres Oct. 26.
