Alec Baldwin is serious about getting Donald Trump out of office.
Speaking at a Democratic Party fundraiser in Manchester, New Hampshire, the actor and regular Trump impersonator on Global’s “Saturday Night Live” called on the country to bring down the U.S. president.
Baldwin said the “way we implement change in America is through elections. And in that orderly and formal way, and lawful way, we need to overthrow the government of the United States under Donald Trump.”
He continued, “Let’s overthrow the government of Donald Trump peacefully, lawfully and with extreme prejudice. Let’s make America great again by making Donald Trump a casino operator again.”
The 60-year-old said Republicans offer “neither hope nor solutions to yet another generation of people of colour, who seek only a decent seat at the American economic table.”
Speaking to reporters after the fundraising dinner, Baldwin described his own horror at the Trump administration.
“For me, every day I wake up, I still am horrified,” he said. “I feel like I’m in some dream where Trump is the president. In New York, Donald Trump is not a punchline. He’s not a joke. He is nothing. He went on a TV show for many years and convinced middle America that he was this crack businessman.”
