DC Comics fans are gearing up for the CW’s upcoming “Arrowverse” crossover, in which the heroes of “Arrow”, “The Flash”, and “Supergirl” team up in a three-part story arc told in episodes of all three shows.
In addition to those superheroes, viewers can also expect to see the return of Supergirl’s cousin, and when Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) appears in the crossover he’ll be sporting a snazzy new black costume in place of the iconic red and blue.
How do we know? Because “Arrow” star Stephen Amell shared a photo from the Vancouver set, in which he’s shown with Hoechlin wearing the black costume that first appeared in the “Death of Superman” story arc in the comic books back in the 1990s.
Superman is far from the only familiar DC Comics character to appear in the highly anticipated crossover, which will also feature Superman’s love interest Lois Lane (former “Grimm” star Bitsie Tulloch) and Nora Fries (played by Amell’s wife, Cassandra Jean Amell), the wife of notorious Batman villain Mr. Freeze.
However, fans are most looking forward to seeing the debut of Batwoman, with Ruby Rose (“Orange Is the New Black”) making her first appearance in what’s planned to set up a standalone “Batwoman” series.
The three-part “Arrowverse” crossover event will air on Dec. 9, 10, and 11.
