Warner Bros. will have to move on without Ben Affleck or Henry Cavill in their DC cinematic universe.
The studio has been reevaluating their superheroes following the disappointing box office performance of “Justice League”.
Not only has “The Flash” been delayed, but Variety reported there will be no more movies with Affleck or Cavill as Batman or Superman, respectively. Warner Bros. “is expected to recast the Dark Knight with a different actor for director Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman solo outing,” the outlet said.
None of this should come as much of a surprise. Affleck’s role as Batman has been in question ever since disputes over the script were publicized. Meanwhile, Cavill has been rumoured to leave the cape behind for quite some time now.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” was a critical dud with many complaining about the movie’s dark and brooding tone.
Nevertheless, Warner Bros. has many superhero titles in the works including “Aquaman”, a “Wonder Woman” sequel, a “Suicide Squad” spinoff starring Margot Robbie and Joaquin Phoenix’s “The Joker” origin movie.
