And now, in season five’s teaser trailer, “Vikings”-lovers get a sneak peek at the fate of their favourites.
But things seem to have gotten more gruesome since they left off with Lagertha on the run and Bjorn seeking revenge on his half-brother after last season’s bloody family feud.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ Bishop Heahmund is spotted covered head-to-toe in blood, which seems to be the theme of the upcoming new episodes.
“Ultimately, Ivar’s reign will not go unchallenged by the sons of Ragnar and old enemies will become allies to defeat the despot who has declared himself a God on earth,” reads a synopsis for season five. “Meanwhile in Iceland, Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) battles the elements and his own settlers’ desire for revenge, to forge a Viking colony on the beautiful and desolate landscape.”
Star Alexander Ludwig chatted with ET Canada’s Carlos Bustamante and spilled on what’s in store for his character Bjorn with the arrival of Rollo.
“You’ll definitely see some very weird character dynamics between the two,” he explains. “I don’t want to give too much away. You’re definitely going to see a showdown for sure. It might be with who you expect. Or it might be with exactly who you expect but I will say that this season 5B for me was the most creatively fulfilling to shoot. I just had so much to do with Bjorn and I mean the end of 5B is pretty insane.”
“Vikings” returns on Nov. 28 at 9 p.m. ET on History Canada.
