Cardi B made hundreds of fans’ dreams come true on Thursday as she turned up at a public housing complex in Brooklyn to hand out free winter coats.
The 26-year-old made sure to spend time taking selfies and talking to the people waiting, saying to the camera in a clip shared by CBS New York: “These kids follow me, these kids look at me, these kids listen to my music.”
Cardi, who was born in the Bronx, made the Marlboro Houses appearance just as a freeze warning went into effect overnight in parts of the area.
One of the fans waiting, Dana Spear, told NBC New York: “I think she’s unbelievable, and I think it’s great she’s doing this for the less fortunate.”
“This neighbourhood really needs it,” another person added.
Cardi was scheduled to arrive at the event by 5 p.m. but is said to have been hours late.
She shared, “I said, ‘I’m pulling up, what’s up, I’m in here, let’s go!’ We ready, let’s get ready for the coats, it’s cold out here.”
