‘Stitched’ Star Joe Zee Marries Longtime Partner Rob Younkers

Joe Zee and Rob Younkers have tied the knot, with People reporting the former Elle director and his longtime partner were married on Oct. 5 at upscale farm-to-table restaurant Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Tarrytown, NY.

Zee is currently seen in Slice reality-TV fashion competition “Stitched”, in which he’s among the judges weighing in on bold new designs created by some of the fashion industry’s hottest young designers.

The couple got engaged in 2015, and People reports they exchanged vows in front of 130 guests, including such luminaries as Julianne Moore, celebrity hairstylist Serge Normant and socialite Ariana Rockefeller.

“It was really a magical day,” Canadian native Zee tells People. “My favourite part of the whole day was to look out and see every single person that we wanted to come, sitting there in one room at the same time. I feel really blessed that everybody we wanted to come, came.”

When it came time to write his vows, Zee admits he opted for spontaneity. “The day of the wedding, I sat at a Starbucks at a train station in Scarsdale and wrote my vows,” he adds. “Yes, it is a true sign of procrastinator, but at the same time, I really feel like it’s from the heart. If you write it too early I feel like you spend too much time overthinking it and it gets stuffy, where this was genuinely really just verbatim and real.”

Younkers, on the other hand, was deeply involved in every aspect of the informal ceremony. “From seating to tables to designing the invite and the hostess cards and even working with the interior guy to design the room, that was all Rob,” Zee said of his husband. “When you walked in it was completely magical and beautiful.”
