Thomas Markle found out his daughter Meghan Markle was pregnant the same way everyone else did.
The father of the Duchess of Sussex reacted to her pregnancy in a new interview with the Mail on Sunday.
“I was sitting in line waiting to cross the border [between the U.S. and Mexico] when I heard the baby announcement on the car radio,” Markle said. “I thought, ‘My baby is having a baby.’ It was a very proud moment.”
“I was filled with love, joy and happiness for both my beautiful daughter and my son-in-law,” he continued. “A new baby is a blessing and I look forward to seeing a little Meghan or a little Harry.”
Markle’s tone on his daughter’s royal status has changed over the past few months. Thomas had a very public feud with the Royal family, but tensions seem to have cooled off. In August, Thomas compared the Royal Family to “cult-like” Scientologists.
The Duchess’ half-sister Samantha Markle has a more complicated relationship with the Royals. Samantha was reportedly turned away from Kensington Palace earlier this month but is ready to make amends.
