Just like everyone else who got the iconic mid-1990s haircut, Jennifer Aniston had a hard time styling “The Rachel”.
Hairstylist Chris McMillan gave Aniston her signature cut on “Friends”, spawning a hairstyle movement not seen since Farrah Fawcett’s wavy 1970s ‘do. But, it turns out that, without McMillan’s touch, Aniston had some trouble with the look.
“I used to call it the Rachel hair because I got that haircut, that was like, ‘Wow, this is amazing,’ and then I was totally left with this frizzy mop on my head because I had no idea how to do what he did. Nobody seems to know how to do what Chris does,” the actress said at the 2018 InStyle Awards where McMillan was honoured.
Aniston reflected on 25 years of working with McMillan, praising his charitable work.
“From the teachers he donates haircuts to, to the women and men going through chemo who need their heads shaved with dignity and grace — and then he’ll cut their wigs to make them look as gorgeous and feel as gorgeous as they did before,” Aniston remarked. “So, the beautiful thing, and this really says it all, is that he makes everyone feel as important as the next person, no matter who you are.”
