This Dame is serious about stopping drunk driving.
The always lovely Helen Mirren appears in Budweiser’s new commercial set to air during the Super Bowl 50, where she gave her sharp-witted opinion on the issue of drunk driving. The ad, titled “Simply Put”;, is part of the beer distributor’s #GiveADamn campaign, which is a call to stop people from drinking and driving on the night of America’s biggest televised sporting event of the year.
“Hello,”; the 70-year-old actress says in a dimly lit booth of a fine-dining restaurant. “I’m Helen Mirren, a notoriously frank and uncensored British lady.”;
The “Woman In Gold”; star then calls out all drunk drivers, “If you drive drunk, you — simply put — are a short-sighted, utterly useless, oxygen-wasting human form of pollution, a Darwin award-deserving selfish coward.”;
“Now, the chances are you’re a fun, solid, respectable human being. Don’t be a pillock,”; she continues. “Your friends and family thank you.”;
No one could be more perfect than Mirren to spark conversations about this vital topic with her British command and utter charm.
In addition to Budweiser’s video campaign, the beverage giant will donate $1 towards safe ride home programs for each use of the hashtag #GiveADamn on social media through 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 7.
