Lauren Jauregui has dropped her first solo track and it’s exceeding fans’ “expectations”.
The 22-year-old announced the release at the beginning of the month and rolled it out at the stroke of midnight on October 24.
Jauregui reacted to fans finally getting to hear the single:
“Wish I had no expectations. I wish that I could get it through your head with no confrontations. I really wish we could talk it out instead,” Jauregui sings. “Wish I had no expectations. But I expect, you expect, we expect.”
At the 2018 AMAs, Lauren told Billboard, “‘Expectations’ is an exploration of when you’re in a relationship with someone and you don’t want to have expectations but they kind of get in the way, regardless, so it’s about that.”
To say that Jauregui’s track lived up to fans’ expectations would be an understatement. Within an hour, the track was trending worldwide and Lauren spent the better part of her evening responding to fans highlighting her single’s success.
The singer even got a couple of shout-outs from current flame Ty Dolla $ign, who shared the song on his Instagram Stories, as well as tweeting:
This isn’t the first time fans have heard the track, as Lauren offered up a taste of her solo music when she hit the road with Halsey on the Latin American leg of her “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom” world tour. Jauregui shared “Toy”, “Inside”, and “Expectations”, with the crowd. She also released a teaser on her YouTube channel. You can watch that below.
