Catherine Zeta-Jones is coming to television — or, to be more precise, to a scripted series for Facebook.
Airing on the social media site’s new video platform, Facebook Watch, the “Chicago” Oscar winner heads the cast of “Queen America”, a provocative new dark comedy from Meaghan Oppenheimer, screenwriter of the Zac Efron feature “We Are Your Friends”.
Set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, “Queen America” features Zeta-Jones as Vicki Ellis, “the most renowned (and ruthless) pageant coach in the state,” according to the show’s synopsis.
She’s hired by aspiring pageant queen Samantha Stone (Belle Shouse), “who hopes Vicki can mold her into a worthwhile contender for the title of Miss America. Vicki is desperately sought after by young women competing to be Miss America for one reason; she can turn any girl into a winner. But when she gets paired with the beautiful but unpolished Samantha, Vicki’s entire reputation might be at stake.”
The 10-episode series will debut on Nov. 21, with a new episode debuting each week.
