Do not expect the release of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” anytime soon.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said the third instalment of the beloved sci-fi superhero movie is “on hold” until further notice. The movie’s future has been in limbo ever since Disney fired director James Gunn over inappropriate tweets he made years ago.
The cast of “GOTG” published a letter in support of Gunn, but Disney remains firm on their decision. Dave Bautista — who plays Drax the Destroyer — has been particularly outspoken. The former WWE superstar has gone so far as to refuse to reprise his role.
Feige made the announcement during a special “Black Panther” screening. He also revealed a trailer for “Avengers 4” will be released before the end of 2018.
The Marvel Studios boss also said the creative team is still deciding if and when to introduce the new character Namor. The mutant son of a human sea captain and a princess of Atlantis, Namor could be described as Marvel’s version of Aquaman.
