Demi Lovato’s mom is proud of her daughter’s progress.
Author Dianna De La Garza updated Maria Menounos on Lovato’s sobriety when speaking on Menounos’ podcast.
“Yes, she has 90 days,” Garza said of her daughter. “And I couldn’t be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction being a disease, it’s work. It’s not easy. There are no short cuts.”
“I knew that she wasn’t sober, but let me clarify. I didn’t know what she was doing…. because she doesn’t live with me,” the author explained. “She’s 26. I just knew that she wasn’t sober. And that’s all I really knew at that time.”
Garza told Newsmax TV last month she found out about her daughter’s overdose after receiving a call from the “Confident” singer’s assistant: “I was in shock. I didn’t know what to say. It was just something that I never, ever expected to hear, as a parent, about any of my kids.”
Lovato was rushed to the hospital on July 24 after suffering an overdose of oxycodone laced with fentanyl. In August, she released one Instagram post addressing her relapse and recovery.
