WWE pulled out all the stops for their first-ever all-women pay-per-view event Evolution.
The event featured the WWE’s top female entertainers, including former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, former WWE women’s champions Charlotte Flair (daughter of the legendary Ric Flair) and Alex Bliss.
Numerous legendary women from WWE’s past were also announced. Hall of Fame superstar and Toronto’s own Trish Stratus wrestled on Evolution with the ultra-popular Lita.
A battle royal — a match typically consisting of 10 or more wrestlers attempting to eliminate opponents by throwing them out of the ring — was also announced. That bout featured a handful of surprise returns, including Torrie Wilson, Eve Torres, Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly and pioneer Alundra Blayze.
McCool is notably the first-ever WWE Diva’s champion, a now-retired title, and wife of the Undertaker.
The pay-per-view’s commentary team consisted of veteran Michael Cole and Canadian Renee Young, plus a surprise guest appearance by legendary wrestler Beth Phoenix.
WWE Evolution took place on Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, in Uniondale, New York.
