The “Today” show got its third hour started on Monday with some familiar faces taking over from Megyn Kelly.
Anchors Hoda Kotb, Craig Melvin and Al Roker opened the 9 a.m. hour on Monday by addressing Kelly’s official departure from the show following a controversial segment last week on blackface.
“Today, as you know, we are starting a new chapter in the third hour of our show as it evolves,” Kotb said.
Twenty minutes into the hour, Jenna Bush Hager took over from Kotb and was later rejoined by Melvin and Roker.
According to a report from Variety, NBC is still searching for a permanent solution for the 9 a.m. hour of “Today”, while the show’s other anchors, including Savannah Guthrie, fill in as hosts in the meantime.
NBC announced last Friday that it was cancelling Kelly’s hour of “Today” following the backlash surrounding her comments on dressing up in blackface.
Conversations are already reportedly taking place between NBC and Kelly about her exit from the network.
