Hannah Sergel is still in shock after Meghan Markle recognized her from their old Instagram interactions. She’s now talking about the moment the duchess came across to say hello.
Sergel, 20, was carrying a sign which read, “It’s Hannah from Instagram,” when the royal immediately left Prince Harry’s side and pulled her in for a hug.
Markle, who was mid-walkabout at Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour at the time, could be heard saying in the adorable clip: “My gosh, how are you? It’s so good to meet you.”
Speaking to Newshub on Wednesday, Sergel, who has even had NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern message her pics of the meeting on Twitter, admitted of the pair finally coming face-to-face: “That’s when everything went blurry.”
She added that things have been crazy since the cute video went viral, telling the publication: “This morning I did a radio interview for a station in Perth, [and] I’ve been contacted via Twitter quite a bit from media in the UK and USA. It’s been hectic.
“It’s so crazy… I’m literally all over the world.”
Explaining the pair’s relationship, Sergel continued: “She used to follow me on Instagram, and we used to chat occasionally and we’d comment on each other’s photos.
“Occasionally, she’d comment on my selfies – most memorable was ‘beautiful’ with a kissy emoji.
“I’d tweet her and she’d reply with supportive messages.”
Harry and Markle have been touring Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, and Fiji for 16 days throughout their royal tour. They’ll be heading back to London on Nov. 1.
