The “Droughtlander” is almost over!
Before “Outlander” returns with season 4 on W Network on Sunday night, ET Canada headed to the show’s set in Glasgow, Scotland to get the scoop on what’s in store this season from stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan. Here’s a hint: it’s going to get a lot steamier.
“The great thing about this season is it is the story of this immigrant family and Jamie and Claire are finally in this position to build a new life for themselves from scratch and you know leave behind all this trouble that Jamie had in Scotland,” Balfe tells ET Canada’s Paul McGuire on set. “It’s not that America is not without its complications for them but we’ve never seen them both have this fresh start.”
Co-star Heughan says fans who have kept up with the books will know what lies ahead, but promises “there are going to be some little surprises for fans of the book as well.” That’s great news for fans who have been anticipating a meeting between Jamie and his daughter, Brianna.
“Obviously that is going to be such a huge moment,” Balfe teases, though at the time ET Canada sat down with the actress, the scene had yet to be filmed. “Just to have this family unit together in this configuration. I think it will be complicated cause we don’t do anything very simply. But I also think there is going to be a lot of healing and I think that that’s probably the biggest thing.”
Heughan agrees, adding, “For Jamie, it’s going to be a defining moment. He’s got his family around him… he’s never had his own children around him. He’s got his surrogate son Fergus and Ian who is his own blood. But for him to finally meet his daughter it’s going to be really interesting.”
Season 4 of “Outlander” premeires on W Network on Sunday, November 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
