We loved them on the small screen on SCTV and their new hit comedy Schitt’s Creek and on the big screen in such films as A Mighty Wind and Best in Show, and now the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is expressing that love by awarding the frequent co-stars its prestigious Legacy Award, presented for unflagging dedication in bringing international acclaim to Canadian talent in film, television or digital media.

The Academy made the announcement this morning, with the pair to accept their awards at a special event held in advance of this year’s Canadian Screen Awards.

“With decades of brilliant work behind them and many more to come, Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara stand among the world’s finest comic actors,” says Academy Chair Martin Katz. “Though they are not an official duo, they have played together so often and so well, that we thought it only fitting to honour them together.”

Comedian Norm Macdonald will host the 2016 Canadian Screen Awards, to be broadcast live on Sunday, Mar. 13.
