Alicia Vikander has emerged as the breakout star of award season, with her charming interviews, graceful acceptance speeches, and effortless fashion. But as a first-time nominee, she’s had to learn a thing or two about the process along the way!
“Yesterday I Googled the nomination luncheon,”; the actress tells Matte Babel with a laugh at the 2016 Oscar Nominees Luncheon in Beverly Hills. “I saw this class photo and I didn’t know that was what we were gonna do, and I got really excited! As a foreigner, I grew up watching American high school movies, so I was thinking about yearbooks… It was so cool. That felt like a movie.”;

But unlike any ordinary yearbook photo, this one trades awkward teens for Hollywood A-listers! Vikander tells us she was sandwiched between fellow nominees Rooney Mara and Leonardo DiCaprio in the class photo, and so it’s no surprise she says she’s in “pretty good company.”;
“In that room it’s some incredible filmmakers, crew, people that I’ve admired, and hardworking people that are so worth their recognition,”; she says. “It’s been a very cool journey.”;
