Ariana Grande is on top of the world.
On Tuesday, Billboard announced the singer was their 2018 Woman of the Year.
Grande will be presented the award 13th annual Women in Music gala in New York on Dec. 6. Previous honourees include Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Selena Gomez.
“Ariana Grande is a star on her own terms, never bending to any particular musical trend or path in the industry,” said Ross Scarano, Billboard’s VP of content. “Certain in her convictions, she consistently stands up for herself and her decisions in a world that often isn’t hospitable to that sort of strength in young women. She’s got guts, she’s making some of the best music of her career, and she’s absolutely deserving of Woman of the Year.”
The big award comes as Grande’s surprise single “Thank U, Next” has been making waves on the charts.
The song, which was streamed more than nine million times on Apple Music in its first 24 hours after release on Saturday night, has become the first on the streaming service ever to hit No. 1 on the Global, U.S. and Canada Top 100 charts simultaneously.
“Thank U, Next” also helped push Ariana Grande past two billion total streams on Apple Music, a feat previously surpassed by Rihanna and Taylor Swift.
The single has also been a huge hit on Twitter, inspiring more than 1.5 million tweets about the song and 3.4 million about Grande herself, according to the social media site.
Lyrics from the song have also spawned a meme racking up over 240,000 tweets.
Even celebs have been tweeting about “Thank U, Next”, including Halsey, Kim Kardashian and more.
