Stephen Colbert called in someone very special to help with those “Late Show” U.S. election interviews: Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
Colbert told viewers how his good friend Conan O’Brien was on a break this week so he’d asked his reporter Triumph to travel down to Texas to talk to Beto O’Rourke and someone he’d been hunting down for years: Ted Cruz.
Triumph spoke to “a terrifying swarm of degenerate young leftists with one thing in common: They all share the same Netflix account” while at an O’Rourke rally in Houston.
The pup asked the Democrat: “Does it concern you that half your base thinks they can vote for you through Instagram?” to which he laughed: “Yeah, it’s gonna have to turn into real votes.”
Triumph then headed to Cruz’s rally in Harlingen, where he compared the politician to the “hideous fish monster” out of “The Shape of Water”.
He also asked, “Is it true you will defend the Constitution at all costs, except for when Donald Trump calls it ugly on Twitter?” referencing one of Trump’s tweets in which he mocked Cruz’s wife.
Cruz then hit back that it was the Democrats who “took you into the vet to get fixed,” to which Triumph replied: “I support spaying and neutering – just like Trump did to you!”
