Cheryl released her first song in four years — “Love Made Me Do It” — on Friday.
The 35-year-old, who announced she’d split from One Direction heartthrob Liam Payne, 25, in July, is sassier than ever in her eagerly anticipated comeback track.
Cheryl can be seen dancing up a storm with an array of male dancers in the new music video, after she shared a sneak peek of the track earlier this week.
Despite most assuming the song lyrics must be related to her two-year relationship with Payne, with whom she shares one-year-old son Bear, Cheryl insisted the track is not about any one person in particular.
Payne made sure to take to Twitter after the song’s release to praise his ex:
His comments come after Cheryl shared of the lyrics, according to the Sun: “It’s something that anyone who’s been in love will be able to relate to in some way or another.
“It’s not about one specific person or relationship; it’s more about me being the lover of love that I am. I just love love!”
The Geordie star recently wiped clean her entire Instagram, including pics of Payne with their son, ahead of her new music’s release.
