Colin Firth, Jeremy Piven and One Direction’s Harry Styles were among the stylish stars who hit up London Collections: Men A/W 2013 for some designer inspiration.
Harry who’s been making headlines since his recent split from Taylor Swift, sat back and just enjoyed the shows. “I just think it’s nice to kind of appreciate men’s fashion,”; says the pop star. “When so many people think about fashion they think about women automatically. It’s nice for people to put on stuff like this for everyone to come together.”;
The three-day event was organized by the British Fashion Council and featured more than 60 designers. British GQ editor Dylan Jones and chair of the committee says it’s finally time for men’s fashion to take the spotlight. “My father had no interest in fashion but in the last 30, 40 years men have really started to have a keen interest in fashion and now we shop like women,”; he explains. “Menswear is responsible for 50 per cent of the clothing market in this country. And you speak to anyone whether it’s the high street, mid market or the luxury end and menswear is in the ascendancy, menswear is growing faster than women’s wear.”;
The shows featured a range of designers from veterans like Tom Ford and Alexander McQueen, to rising stars like Lou Dalton, and Rake, as well as the mass market label Topman.
