Gisele Bundchen is getting real about her decision to leave Victoria’s Secret.
With the annual runway show just days away from filming, the model, 38, says in her new memoir Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life she is now no longer comfortable working with the company.
When she was just starting out at 15-years-old modelling was different, “For the first five years, I felt comfortable modelling in lingerie, but as time went on, I felt less and less at ease being photographed walking the runway wearing just a bikini or a thong,” she said. “Give me a tail, a cape, wings — please, anything to cover me up a little!”
Fast forward to 2006, when her contract with the company was ready to be renewed, Bundchen became hesitant, “I was certainly grateful for the opportunity and the financial security the company had given me, but I was at a different place in my life, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue working there.”
And now that she’s no longer with Victoria’s Secret she revealed she feels “less and less at ease wearing just a thong.”
She continued, “No was the answer I unconsciously wanted to hear. It was also the answer my body wanted to hear and, I believe, had been trying to tell me for days.”
