Former Navy SEAL Dan Crenshaw was riding high Tuesday night after winning a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The newly minted Texas Republican politician took a crack at Global’s “Saturday Night Live” during the speech.
Extolling the virtues of his constituents, Crenshaw said, “We’re not a people to shatter at the first sign of offence or hardship,” adding with a smile under his breath, “‘SNL’.”
The most recent episode of “SNL” caused controversy during its “Weekend Update” segment when Pete Davidson joked about Crenshaw’s eye patch, which he wears due to an injury sustained while serving in Afghanistan in 2012.
Also in the speech, Crenshaw thanked his friend John Noonan for convincing him to run and made another reference to “SNL”.
“He’s upset because the recent ‘Saturday Night Live’ controversy has resulted in me having more Twitter followers,” Crenshaw joked.
