It was the “conscious uncoupling” around the world, yet despite the brave front put on by amicably splitting spouses Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, all was apparently not as well as it seemed.
In new Coldplay documentary “A Head Full of Dreams”, frontman Chris Martin admits he was downright shattered by the split from his Oscar-winning wife.
In fact, while on tour, he felt “completely worthless and nothing to anybody,” he said, as reported by the Daily Mail.
“I was just like, ‘I’m a mess,’ really, because I can’t enjoy the great things around me. Then, of course, I went through a breakup with Gwyneth. Listen, I’m never going to moan, I’m grateful for everything, but it was pretty touch and go,” he added.
Martin’s Coldplay band mates Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion, in addition to former manager Phil Harvey, were all concerned about the singer’s state of mind in the wake of the split.
“Your mind can go to the worst case scenario,” said Harvey. “I was worried about him to the extent that I was just really glad to get a text in the morning just to know he was OK.”
“Head Full of Dreams” premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Nov. 16.
