Netflix has announced it’s cancelling the red carpet portion of the premiere for its new movie, “Bird Box”, due to the wildfires raging throughout California.

Deadline reports that the screening will still take place as scheduled, on Monday night at AFI Fest, but there will no longer be a red carpet for the premiere of the film starring Sandra Bullock.

“Our hearts are with the victims and families of the Borderline shooting and of the California wildfires,” Netflix said in a statement. “In light of the tragedies this week, we will be cancelling tonight’s AFI Fest red carpet coverage for ‘Bird Box’. The screening will continue as planned. We thank you in advance for understanding and encourage everyone to donate to the many organizations who are helping those impacted by the shooting and the fires.”

The post-apocalyptic monster movie is set to debut in theatres Dec. 13 and will drop on Netflix Dec. 13.

On Sunday, Netflix made a similar decision to cancel the red carpet for the premiere of Joel and Ethan Coen’s new film “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”.

The new western anthology features such stars as Liam Neeson, James Franco, Zoe Kazan, Tyne Daly and Tom Waits, and will make its Netflix premiere on Friday, Nov. 16 after premiering at the Venice Film Festival in August.

Netflix’s decision comes after Paramount made a similar decision, axing the red carpet portion of Saturday’s premiere of Mark Wahlberg’s new film “Instant Family”.

The fires have already claimed several casualties, and burned down numerous buildings, including the homes of such celebrities as singer Robin Thicke and “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Camille Grammer.
