Disney has unveiled the new teaser trailer for “Toy Story 4” ahead of its summer 2019 release date.
Fans may have thought they’d seen the back of beloved characters Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) and Buzz (Tim Allen) after 2010’s “Toy Story 3”; however, the toys are now returning to the big screen… with one new addition.
The newly released trailer shows reluctant new toy Forky as the camera pans from all the old favourites to the newbie, who causes chaos by saying, “I don’t belong here!”
Director Josh Cooley says in a press release, “Like most people, I assumed that ‘Toy Story 3’ was the end of the story.
“And it was the end of Woody’s story with Andy. But just like in life, every ending is a new beginning. Woody now being in a new room, with new toys, and a new kid, was something we have never seen before. The questions of what that would be like became the beginning of an entertaining story worth exploring.”
Cooley adds, “The world of ‘Toy Story’ is built upon the idea that everything in the world has a purpose. A toy’s purpose is to be there for its child. But what about toys that are made out of other objects?
“Forky is a toy that Bonnie made out of a disposable spork, so he’s facing a crisis. He wants to fulfil his purpose as a spork but now has a new toy purpose thrust upon him.”
Filmmakers called on “Arrested Development” and “Veep” star Tony Hale to provide the voice of Forky.
Hale gushes of the role, “It’s a huge thrill to be part of the ‘Toy Story’ family. But it’s going to take a while for it to really sink in.”
As if that isn’t enough excitement for one week, Disney then unveiled another clip Tuesday.
The vid shows stuffed animals Ducky and Bunny, voiced by Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key, mocking Woody and Buzz after discussing the brand new trailer for the upcoming movie.
