Pioneering comic book writer Stan Lee has died at 95-years-old.
The comic book icon and war veteran had been in ill health in recent years, most recently battling pneumonia and vision problems. An attorney for the family confirmed his passing to ET on Monday.
“Paramedics responded to Stan Lee’s house in the Hollywood Hills early Monday morning for a medical emergency. He was transported to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center where he passed away shortly after,” the statement reads.

“My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man,” his daughter J.C, 69, told TMZ.
His wife of 69 years, also named Joan, passed away in July 2017.
Founding Marvel Comics in 1961 with Jack Kirby with the creation of The Fantastic Four, Lee went on to create Spider-Man Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, and The Avengers, among others. Since the formation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Lee has made a cameo appearance in each of the superhero films, though their relationship went through a rocky period. He sued Marvel for royalties for 2002’s “Spider-Man” movie, later settling for $10 million.
