It’s been five years since Dido last released an album and 15 years since she went on tour but Monday brought some long-awaited news for fans of the folk-pop singer, who revealed plans for both a new album and accompanying tour.
Dido (whose real name is Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O’Malley Armstrong) shared the news with fans on social media, revealing her new album will be titled Still On My Mind and will drop March 8, 2019.
She also announced she’ll embark on her first tour since 2003. According to Dido’s website, the tour will begin May 5 in the Czech Republic and traverse Europe before heading to North America in mid-June; the only Canadian stops on the tour are Toronto (June 15) and Vancouver (June 29).
In advance of Still On My Mind, Dido released her first single from the album, a new track titled “Hurricanes”. You can give it a listen above.
The album was recorded in her native England with her brother Rollo, her longtime collaborator.
“It was simple, I only wanted to make another album if it was with him,” she says in a statement (via Rolling Stone). “It was made in such an easy way, all the vocals recorded on the sofa, a lot of it recorded at home.”
She adds: “I wanted to capture the feeling I still get from listening to music, just that rush like you don’t need anything more than this.”
